The French Film Festival kicked off last night, with the bonkers opening night film “The Trouble With You”. I have tickets for 11 movies, and if I’m not fluent in French by the end I shall be most aggrieved. (No one seems to say “zut alors!” In French movies anymore, unlike when I learnt French at school some numbers of years ago. You hear a lot of “putain!” though, generally translated for the highbrow anglophone as “shit” or “damn” because the F word is too working class.)
