OK, so if a case is booked onto a morning list, and is down for four hours, but the surgeon brings along his dinner, is the anaesthetist justified in feeeling somewhat aggrieved when the case is still going at 6pm? Does it matter if the surgeon is a very pleasant fellow? How about if said anaesthetist is meant to be on call at another hospital from 5pm? These are all excellent questions. Paul, I feel your pain. No one said neurosurgery was easy (in fact, isn’t there a saying to that effect? Or am I thinking of aeronautical engineering?)
