Went to a high tea today at the Otaihanga boat club. The food was absolutely amazing and very cheap. The nice lady Ivy does all her own cooking – she even bakes the bread for the sandwiches.
Unfortunately we were the only people there. This could have been because of the drizzly rain (still waiting for that heatwave), but Ivy said it’s been very quiet the past few months and if it doesn’t pick up she’ll have to close down in May. So please come and try it you’re ever up this way. It’s a lovely spot right by the Waikanae River. She does the high teas every Sunday from midday until 3:30. Bring cash. She also does catering: 80th birthday parties a specialty.
