Black dog

The girls tell me they think the schnoodle with the ear infection is depressed. It’s been a tough week for her. Twice a day I’ve had to hold her firmly and squirt a noxious and slimy medication into her ear, and she hates it. She’s very well behaved, so she doesn’t bite or struggle – she doesn’t get angry or annoyed – she just looks at me sadly. “You have betrayed my trust!” She seems to say “Why would you do this to me? I thought our relationship was something real and good, but the scales have fallen from my eyes.” It’s terrible not being able to explain what I’m doing. Hopefully now the infection is better she can forget about it and we can move on. Very forgiving animals, dogs. I suspect it’s because they love us so much, and also because their brains are so tiny.
