Just spent the last couple of hours trying to learn how to go about publishing the department newsletter. Poor Sheila, she’s probably wondering how you can work closely with someone for years and not realize quite how stupid they are. Does anyone ever take on a new role and end up thinking “well, that wasn’t so bad! This isn’t going to be half as much work as I thought it might be…” because I’m certainly not. It seems like a depressing amount of work when I was hoping to be able to dash off something witty over a half an hour every fortnight and that would be it, job done. Oh well. No doubt it will get easier with time, or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. And in the meantime, I have a registrar working with me on it who will just be itching to take as much control as possible. Thank God for youth and energy.
