Some confusion after my last post. “Ad summa” means “aim for the highest” and is the motto of a well known Wellington school. Hence, “Ad nauseum” is funny. Anyway, either is better than the motto of my primary school. Not a lot of Latin spoken in West Auckland, and so our motto was: “To the diligent, nothing is difficult”, which is fine except brutally unfair for the likes of my poor daughter who has worked like a Trojan all year (as in, the hard working and industrious inhabitants of Troy, not the condoms), and having just completed her year 13 exams, is seriously worried about whether she will have enough credits to be eligible for University next year.
