Was feeling lonely and unloved the other day, so decided to spend some time trawling through Facebook (so I could feel lonely and unloved while seeing how popular and fabulous everyone else is, and what a good time they’re having), when I saw a post from a favourite intelligent comedy group of mine, White Man Behind a Desk (better than it sounds, honest). On the spur of the moment, I decided to ask their advice.
Their advice was really good actually, basically put yourself out there with social media and stuff. I was briefly enthused (figured out how to put a button on my posts so that people can forward them onto other platforms), but then I thought: this is too much like hard work. I’m happy just to do my small thing in my own little way, for friends and colleagues and family. Too much trouble to try and make something that would appeal to the masses. So, it’s just you and me. Nice.
I did replace the default cactus in a bowl photo on my title page with my Snapchat Bitmoji (just chillin’ with a cocktail) though, so it hasn’t all been a waste of time.
