Poor prep

Have just been berated by an Englishman from Ipswich, who took time out from waiting for the birth of his second child to tell me that I have done a terrible job of visiting Cambridge, completely wasting my time by day-tripping to all the wrong places. I am ashamed. This has emphasized the importance of good research before undertaking a sabbatical. Does anyone have any useful tips for when I’m in Montpellier in France in October? (Apart from: make sure you speak the language! – it’s a little late for that)
